AWS says it&#8217;s made its Linux available after customer requests to do more development on-premises. Those requests don&#8217;t represent a bursting of the cloud bubble, but it&#8217;s nonetheless notable that developers feel the need to do some testing without paying for it by the hour.<br \/>\nMore often than not, we feel a need to deploy a local developmental or testing instance of our app\/product. We have all gone through the same routine,<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Developer Testing &amp; Code Reviews<\/li>\n<li>Automated Test with CI<\/li>\n<li>Meticulous testing and validation by QA<\/li>\n<li>Deploy in Staging<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>And All hell broke loose on you!!!<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nocturnalknight.com\/amazon-linux-now-available-for-on-premise-developmenttesting\/buildfailed\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-274\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-274\" src=\"http:\/\/35.177.175.1.xip.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/buildfailed.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nocturnalknight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/buildfailed.jpeg 512w, https:\/\/nocturnalknight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/buildfailed-300x225.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nIt could be anything ranging from a simple charset\/locale to wrong version of JVM or a libriary or other. Sometimes, it could be something sinister\u00a0like the AWS A\/ELB handling the request other than the way your app server intended to handle!<br \/>\nSo, many Devops, SCM and Product owners prayed to the almighty altar of AWS. And their prayers have been answered.<br \/>\nThe cloud giant&#8217;s chief evangelist Jeff Barr made the announcement in this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/aws.amazon.com\/blogs\/aws\/new-amazon-linux-container-image-for-cloud-and-on-premises-workloads\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">blog post<\/a>.<br \/>\nThe company has loosed its Linux Container Image to assist those planning a move into its cloud can test their software and workloads on-premises.\u00a0Previously the image was only accessible on-cloud, for customers running virtual machine instances on AWS.<br \/>\nThe image is available from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/aws.amazon.com\/ecr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">EC2 Container Registry<\/a>\u00a0(read\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/docs.aws.amazon.com\/AmazonECR\/latest\/userguide\/docker-pull-ecr-image.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pulling an Image<\/a>\u00a0to learn how to access it). It is built from the same source code and packages as the AMI and will give you a smooth path to container adoption.
